PURPOSE: This course is designed to provide the practicing colon and rectal surgeon with updates on important aspects of caring for patients with colon and rectal diseases. Emphasis is placed on a broad range of topics to address the needs of a diversified group of attendees. OBJECTIVES: At the end of this program, the participant should be able to: - Discuss special issues related to colonoscopy on patients who are on antithrombotic agents
- Review the surgical management of Collagenous Colitis with the surgery of ileoanal pouch anal anastomosis
- Discuss multi-modal analgesic techniques resulting in improved pain control for post-operativepatients
- Discuss new methods of treatment for fecal incontinence
- Discuss avoiding pitfalls and complications in cytoreductive surgery
- Describe the surgical management of radiation induced fistula between rectum, urinary bladder and prostatic urethra
- Review the long-term results of restorative proctocoletomy
- Discuss the impact of an organized and standard pathway for patient outcomes
- Explain techniques in abdominopelvic re-operative surgery
- Assess pelvic floor reconstructive surgery for treatment of pelvic floor disorders
- Review a case of peritoneal leiomyoma and survey the literature
- Describe the various treatment modalities of hepatic metastases by interventional radiologist
