Top-Notch Education in Tahoe Vista

The Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, or the TTUSD, is committed to providing excellent education experiences for children of all ages. There are nearly four thousand students enrolled in the twelve different schools throughout the region.

In addition to the regular curriculum, the school district also offers several educational opportunities outside the classroom. They are passionate about their Early Childhood Learning Program, as well as their Healthy Kids nutritional and exercise program, the Safe and Drug Free Schools program, Tobacco Use Prevention programs, and the STEPP program, which is directed toward pregnant and parenting teens. There are several after school activities that will support and strengthen the classroom learning, and produce a well-rounded student.

There are six elementary schools in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, including Donner Trail Elementary School, Glenshire Elementary School, Kings Beach Elementary School, North Tahoe Elementary School, Tahoe Lake Elementary School, and Truckee Elementary School. The middle school is Alder Creek Elementary School, and the high schools are North Tahoe High School, Sierra Continuation High School, and Truckee High School. The district also includes the Coldstream Alternative School.

There are also many private schools in the area for those that choose to pursue a private education. These schools have excellent reputations for outstanding academics and extra-curricular activities. Some of the schools that you may want to explore are the Lake Tahoe School in Incline Village, Squaw Valley Academy in Olympic Valley, Custom Learning Academy in Truckee, Adams-Auburn Discovery Montessori in Auburn, and Sugar Bowl Academy in Norden.

Whatever the choice, you’re sure to find outstanding educational opportunities for your children. The Tahoe area is steeped in history, and pride in Lake Tahoe and its illustrious history spills over into all aspects of Tahoe life- especially into the education of Tahoe’s future leaders.
